January 2012 Chapter Meeting/Election-Installation of Officers & Board of Directors

On Wednesday, January 18, 2012 the Northern Nevada Chapter held is first bi-monthly meeting of the year with the election of its 2012 Chapter Officers and Board of Directors. Of the newly elected Board of Directors, only Kevin Gattis of Carson City was present for the election and installation. ICC representative Dave Nichols presided over the installation of the Officers and Board of Directors.

Snow Loading in Northern Nevada

When most people think of Nevada, they think of a desert landscape. However, areas of Northern Nevada are subject to high snow loading as these photos show what can happen to a roof with 12 feet of snow accumulation.

Another example of the amount of snow received in the Incline Village area of our jurisdiction.

Earth Quake Damage from Wells, Nevada

On Thursday, February 21, 2008 at 6:16 am a magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck 5 miles north-northeast of Wells, Nevada. More than 20 buildings were heavily damaged, and almost 700 buildings suffered light damage. Several members from our local jurisdictions assisted in damage assessment after the quake.
